Madam C.J. Walker
Madam C.J. Walker.
My name is
in Delta, Louisiana.
I was born on December 23, 1867
I received very little
developed and started selling a line of hair care products.
I became famous when I
the first american woman to become a self-made millionaire. My business was worth more than $1 million at the time of my death.
I was known as
my given name was Sarah Breedlove. I keep the initials of my husband's name, because whites called all black people by their first name. Thats why I'm referred to as Madam C.J. Walker rather than Sarah Breedlove Walker.
An interesting fact about me is
I married two men in my life, and had a daughter named A'Lelia Walker.
Another interesting fact is
I was once a washerwoman in St. Louis, Missouri.
One more interesting fact is
"I got started by giving myself a start."
May 25, 1919.
